The Chauvenet family has had roots in Nuits-Saint-Georges as far back as the late 15th Century and this superb 2009 release is very approachable. Made in a delicate style, taking full advantage of the subtlety and complexity the vintage was capable of. Notes of blue berry fruit, warm earth and a hint of violets precede serious, mouth coating and quite dense medium-bodied flavours, all wrapped in a long finish.

On the nose are beautiful bright cherries with aromatic spices and ripe summer fruits, although on the palate you find waves of dark fruit providing an excellent balance with a lush, long finish.
St Emilion Grand Cru Clos de la Cure - £38.50

From the a beautiful walled vineyard of Clos de la Cure which is just over 6 hectares and located near the old church of St. Christophe-des-Bardes, perched on the heights of the St. Emilion plateau. An excellent example of St Emilion wines at their very best, complex and opaque in colour, with subtle hints of sweet blackcurrant on the nose. Superb structure with solid, tight tannins and a long satisfying finish.
